Projects 2014 > Light Bug > Journal
A conversation with Keith Stuart at the January play sandbox got me thinking about the history of playground technology. As he pointed out, swings are Victorian technology. To see Light Bug as technological augmentation of non-technical swings would be mistaken: swings are play with industrial technology, steel chains and cast steel frames, chains and mass-produced, machines parts, pivots and bolts. Light Bug is post-digital play equipment - interaction with digital code and electronic light, industrial-era kinaesthesia upgraded with game algorithms.
