Projects 2012 > The Ivory Bangle Lady > Journal
Meeting all the project teams was a very inspiring way to start the Heritage Sandbox project. Knowing how much effort we had put into getting this far it was very good to hear about the different stories and ambitions the other projects have too. It was really brilliant to hear that everyone is really up for this journey of discovery letting old methodologies be questioned and possibly upgraded to a new and more creative way of doing things. It was also a great relief to hear that all the projects have very big ambitions but that they all are not quite knowing what's going to happen along the way – I thought it just might be us!
Some quotable highlights I noted:
“It's crucial that the stories drive the technology, not the other way around." – John Troyer, The Future Cemetery
“This is not just about putting content on a screen in the visitor's centre.” – Felicia Smith, Future Cemetery
“Delivering content to people in-situ is becoming a crucial part of communicating heritage.” – Jo Reid, City Strata
“This is all about history from below.” – Steve Poole, Ghosts in the Garden
“Let's put real experience back into these pervasive media projects.” – Rosie Fairchild, Ghosts in the Garden
“Experiences have an afterlife for theatre-goers.” – Paul Clarke, The Memory of Theatre
“We love to add an element of fiction to augment the factual experience.” – Rhian Tritton

Well now that's the welcome meeting out of the way I guess we had better start the project. Watch this space.
