Ugle

by Voy (2010)

Ugle is a wooden owl that can be controlled over the internet with an iPhone application. It lets you send colour-messages from your phone to your home.

When you change the position of the colours on the owl on the screen, the physical owl turns its head to the chosen colour.

What we really like:

It's very playful. Not just in its aesthetic but the way in which you experience it. It's beautiful in its own right. Really like how the information that is communicated is understood at a glance, through a place-specific, physical object.

The language isn't preset. It's set by the individuals using it. Only the people using it knows what it means.

Some other thoughts:

The focus of this project is the physical owl not the app and that's an important consideration for Objects Sandbox.
